God is Love

1 John 4:7-8 tells us that, “God is love.” “Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. v8) He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”

We know that love is important, but we think of it as a feeling. Love is a choice and an action. God loved us so much that He sacrificed His only Begotten Son. Jesus is our example of love in what He did in life and in death for us. The Holy Spirit gives us the power to love. He lives in our hearts to make us more like Jesus.

The “world” thinks that love is what makes you feel good, and is willing to sacrifice moral principles and others’ rights in order to obtain such “love.” But this isn’t real love. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (Amp) tells us that, “Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. v5) “It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride): it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God’s love in us) does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. v6) It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail”  v7) “Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening.” v8) “Love never fails [never fades out of or becomes obsolete or comes to an end].

If we truly know God, then we must learn to love as He loves.
